SkypeOut
Today I decided to pay a 10$ skypeout service fee to get the possibility to call to regular phones. The call rate is excellent: 0,017 €/min!
You won’t waste much time looking around for strange internet calling card systems that charge you huge amounts of money (compared to skype a minimum of 3 times more) and delivering a service that not only is slower to make a call, but it is usually made using VoIP!
Why would anyone want to pay 3 times for the same service? Okay, I know that you’re going to say that you cannot use SkypeOut with a regular phone, and it is true. But still… when are you going to use this kind of service? when you’re at home, next to the pc and ready to use the microphone.
Eventhough it is a huge constraint, the pc+dsl+micro+skype bundle is about to disappear. I don’t think we will have to wait much longer to find in any retail store special phones that are connected to a central unit plugged to your dsl router. It is really something very similar to regular wireless phones. I have them at home, and the unique distintion is that the central unit is connected to the phone network. With some kind of adapted software for the phones, it would be possible to have several phone calls at the same time, several phone numbers and cheap call rates. Even for free!
